Leaving for vacation made easy

If you're leaving your University accommodation during the vacation, here are some things to check before you go.

✅ Pack up what you need

If you need to take belongings home with you, make sure you’ve packed everything you’ll want over the break.

If you have a bike and don’t plan to use it over the vacation, you may also want to take it home or make sure it’s stored safely.

✅ Clean your room and shared spaces

Before you leave, please make sure your room is left clean and tidy.

This includes:

• Cleaning shelves, surfaces, drawers and your en-suite bathroom, if you have one
• Vacuuming the carpet
• Taking all rubbish and recycling to the external bins provided
• Removing anything in shared kitchens, utility rooms or communal spaces that could cause mess, smells or inconvenience for your flatmates
• Washing up and putting away anything you’ve used in the kitchen
• Leaving shared areas clean and tidy for anyone who may still be staying

✅ Leave everything safe and secure

• Close all windows
• Lock doors
• Turn off taps in the sink and shower
• Turn off electrics where appropriate, including electric radiators, heated towel rails, sockets, and light switches
